Retaining Rings & Snap Rings

Associated Spring has been recognized as an expert and leader in both the engineering and manufacture of custom internal and external retaining rings (also referred to as snap rings), which provide shoulders to locate or retain parts on shafts or in cylinders.  

As an alternative to threaded fasteners, our custom engineered retaining rings & snap rings offer advantages such as economic manufacturing, easy assembly, and accurate positioning while maximizing tolerance take-up.

With our engineering expertise and innovative manufacturing capabilities, Associated Spring can produce rings to meet your requirements, including:

• Oblique configurations in the free-state to maximize ring concentricity in the groove at the installed position
• Rings with axial waves for applications that require axial load in addition to the radial load at the installed position
• Specialty cross sections (such as bevel and taper) to meet tolerance stack-up requirements and reduce assembly complexity.
• End configurations and tabs to locate the ring within the assembly and prevent ring rotation in the application
